Indian dog food companies will likely see double-digit growth in sales in the current fiscal year with growth expected to continue in future years, according to an industry official.
"While the world petfood market is worth US$65.8 billion and registered a 4 percent growth, the Indian petfood market has been showing a rapid growth," said Awral Beri, the founder of Kennel Kitchen, a dog food brand of Gitwako Farms (I) Pvt Limited.
Beri said that according to the Pet Food Market Assessment 2013, the sector in India is experiencing double-digit growth, well ahead of the global market, which is expected to continue its rally in coming years.
