Central Garden & Pet executive receives Pet Industry Lifetime Achievement Award

Central Garden & Pet Company, a pet supplies producer, announced that Jim Heim, president of business development, has received the Pet Industry Lifetime Achievement Award from the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council.
Heim, who served on the PIJAC board of directors for seven years and as the chairman for the past four years, focused his efforts on communicating to the pet industry and political leaders about the benefits of a healthy companion animal industry, educating others in support of animal welfare, and promoting the numerous benefits of the human-pet bond.
Heim also was instrumental bringing the industry together in the innovative Top2Top Conference, a gathering of leaders working to examine the state of the industry, future trends, economic forecasts, changing demographics, and legislative issues in support of the human and pet relationship.
Central's CEO John Ranelli said: "Jim is a pillar and key leader in the pet industry. We are very proud to have him on the Central team. As president of business development, he works to enrich the environment of pets and people. I can think of no one more deserving than Jim to receive this lifetime achievement award."
Heim currently serves as the chairman of the American Pet Product Association and is a director of the Pet Food Institute.
