The Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles is almost depleted of petfood for the 4,000 dogs and cats living at its shelters, and it is asking for emergency contributions of money and food from individuals.
Donations have dwindled to less than 10% of what they were before the recession, president of SPCALA, Madeline Bernstein, told the Los Angeles Times.
