1,150 companies registered so far for Interzoo

Six months before the launch of Interzoo 2016, about 1,150 companies have registered for the pet industry fair, which will be held in Nuremberg, Germany, from May 26-29, 2016. The companies will present pet foods and accessories, grooming aids, garden and equestrian articles along with services.
“Even at this stage, there are clear indications that Interzoo 2016 will once again be the world exhibition for the pet industry, where all the sector players come together. Of the previously registered companies, over 80% come from abroad and around 25% are participating for the first time,” said Hans-Jochen Büngener, chairman of the Interzoo Exhibition Committee.
The trade fair organizer, the Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft Zoologischer Fachbetriebe GmbH (WZF, Commercial Association of Specialist Zoological Companies), is very satisfied with the worldwide response of the exhibitors.
“Based on the current level of enquiries, we can be confident that at Interzoo 2016, once again more exhibitors will be presenting themselves than at the last event in space of around 115,000 square meters,” said WZF Managing Director Herbert Bollhöfer.
In Europe, the WZF is registering larger applications for stand spaces, in particular from Italy, Poland, Spain, Turkey and the Czech Republic. Overseas, it is particularly exhibitors from Asia and America who are contributing to this trend. Numerous countries such as Brazil, China, Great Britain, Canada, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and the US will once again present themselves in large country pavilions, including for the first time Ireland, the Czech Republic and Italy.

More visitors coming to Interzoo from Eastern EU

The number of visitors to Interzoo 2014 from Eastern European Union was up 49% from 2004, according to Interzoo News.
“The central location of Germany and in particular the innovative, international range of products and services at Interzoo have no doubt contributed to this,” said Herbert Bollhöfer, managing director of Commercial Association of Specialist Zoological Companies.
Between 2004 and 2014, there was an increase in the number of visitors to Interzoo from Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Estonia.
Interzoo now plays a central role in business strategy in particular for the companies from Germany's eastern neighbors Poland and the Czech Republic. At Interzoo 2014, 1,141 experts and specialists came from Poland and 986 from the Czech Republic. But Interzoo has also become an important marketplace for the pet supplies retail trade visitors from Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia.

Interzoo set for growth in 2016

Professionals from the international pet sector will gather once again in Nuremberg, Germany, from May 26-29, 2016, to attend Interzoo, the world’s biggest trade fair for pet supplies. The initial registration period has already flagged a positive growth trend.
“On the whole, registrations are significantly higher than in the comparable period before the last fair,” said Hans-Jochen Büngener, chairman of the Interzoo Exhibition Committee. Herbert Bollhöfer, managing director of Interzoo organizer WZF (Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft Zoologischer Fachbetriebe GmbH, a service company for the pet industry), is also feeling confident: “We are seeing continuity in the proportion of German and international exhibitors, while the number of stand inquiries confirms Interzoo’s status as the world’s number one trade fair for the pet industry.”
According to Bollhöfer, the NürnbergMesse project team is dealing with requests for specific stand locations and larger exhibition spaces from regular exhibitors and working out the logistics of where to place the stands of new participants. A somewhat larger exhibition area has been planned for Interzoo 2016. The Chinese pavilion will probably be accommodated compactly in halls 8 and 10. Thirteen halls will be available to Interzoo 2016.
Interzoo Summit 2016 offers more interaction
Interzoo is also investing in a supporting program that facilitates networking away from the hustle and bustle of the exhibition. On May 25, 2016, a day before the opening of Interzoo, the international forum for exhibitors and retail company managers from the sector will take place for the second time. The theme of this summit, “The Pet Market of Tomorrow,” will explore the latest findings on digitization, mega trends and new retail infrastructures and the resulting implications for the pet industry.
As well as high-caliber presentations, delegates can also look forward to a half-day workshop: “The basic idea of this workshop is that participants reflect on the content of the preceding presentations in small groups, learn from one another and collaborate to devise solutions for the future of companies operating in the sector and the industry as such," said Antje Schreiber, communications and project manager at WZF. A further positive spinoff is that this will allow many participants to get to know one another personally in the course of professional-level dialogues.

Interzoo Summit recap film now available

The Interzoo Summit—the international conference in English—took place for the first time on May 28 just before Interzoo 2014 (held May 29–June 1), and a video of highlights is now available.
During the show, Interzoo promoter Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft Zoologischer Fachbetriebe invited top managers and managing directors from companies trading in pet supplies and companies exhibiting at Interzoo to discuss the current challenges for the international pet supply trade in a customer-orientated omni-channel market. Well-known speakers presented successful concepts for emotional customer loyalty, the development of private labels, and growth models for cooperation with manufacturers and other players in the supply chain.
Participants and speakers also had the opportunity to meet in the evening over dinner with musical accompaniment. The first Interzoo Summit was organized in cooperation with the international magazine Pets International and NürnbergMesse.
A video of the Summit can be seen online for those looking to get a preview of 2016's event, which will take place May 25, a day before Interzoo 2016 on May 26–29.

Interzoo 2014 attendance up 2% from previous show

Interzoo’s 33rd edition ended on June 1, 2014, with more than 37,000 visitors from more than 120 countries attending—2% more than in 2012, according to organizers. Those in attendance brought themselves up-to-date on everything the world has to offer in pet supplies at the international tradeshow, held in in Nuremberg.
About 1,700 exhibitors (up 10% from 2012) from 63 countries showed their range of petfood, grooming supplies and accessories on over 110,000 square meters of exhibition space. “The proportion of exhibitors from abroad rose to 82%," said Hans-Jochen Büngener, chairman of the Interzoo Exhibition Committee. "Most exhibitors came from the following countries: Germany, China, USA, Italy, United Kingdom and Netherlands.” The fair’s international representation went up 3% over 2012 numbers.
Sixty-nine percent of the show’s visitors came from abroad: According to the preliminary figures of fair’s last day, the share of international visitors increased by 7%, while attendance from Germany dropped by 8%. “Due to the increasing consolidation of the trade we expected an even more pronounced reduction, and are therefore all the happier about the additional international visitors,“ said Büngener. Most trade visitors came from Germany, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Poland and the Netherlands.
The next Interzoo will be held May 26–29, 2016, at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg.

Interzoo brings international pet supplies industry to Germany

Pet supplies trade fair Interzoo is drawing nearly 1,720 exhibitors from 63 countries to Nürnberg, Germany, May 29–June 1. The exhibition promoter Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft Zoologischer Fachbetriebe GmbH (WZF) expects more than 30,000 trade visitors from more than 100 countries will attend the fair focused on petfood, grooming products and accessories for dogs, cats, rodents, birds, aquaria and terraria animals.
The fair will span 110,000 square meters across 12 halls, with the largest areas occupied by those from Germany, China and Italy, followed by the US, Great Britain, France and the Netherlands.
Nearly 65 percent of exhibitors are exhibiting items for cats or dogs. The second largest pet segment represented is aquaria at 22 percent, followed by items for small animals and rodents (20 percent), birds (15 percent), and equestrian or boutique items (11 percent). Other product groups represented are shop fittings, packaging, petfood technology, trade literature/multimedia and other services.
Exhibitors will focus on new food and technology trends, like organic petfood. President Norbert Holthenrich expects the following trends at the exhibition: “Healthy snacks, whether as rewards or treats for between times, also ‘life stage articles’, i.e. food and care articles based on the current age, stage of life, size and breed of the pet. Pet keepers also attach increasing importance to pet food with natural ingredients, regional sources of raw materials and careful processing. The increasing processing of fresh meat in pet food will probably also be a noticeable trend at Interzoo.”

Interzoo explains exhibitor considerations for petfood import licenses

Interzoo 2014 has released come considerations for exhibitors looking to gain import licenses for petfood.
According to Interzoo, petfood may only be placed on the market in Germany if it complies with the German or European legal regulations. Exhibitors must therefore check in good time before Interzoo to make sure petfood from their country is allowed to be imported into the European Union (EU) or Germany. This avoids problems at the Border Inspection Posts.
In principle, food for pets and ornamental fish that contains animal by-products may only be imported from third countries which meet the requirements of the valid version of Chapter II Section 1, Table 2, No. 12 of Regulation (EC) 142/2011. The petfood companies must be approved in accordance with EU law. In exceptional cases, an import licence can also be applied for if petfood from unlisted third countries and companies is to be imported for exhibition purposes. In such cases, the petfood may be imported into Germany solely for display purposes and must be rendered harmless and disposed of at the importer's cost at the end of the exhibition.
Each consignment of petfood must be registered in advance (at least one working day before) for inspection by the official veterinarian at an approved Border Inspection Post by submitting a CVED (Common Veterinary Entry Document) in accordance with Regulation (EC) 136/2004. Importation without prior veterinary inspection is prohibited.
The current version of the detailed Interzoo Information Sheet on Importation of Pet Food with further information and Internet addresses is available for exhibitors at www.interzoo.com/exhibitors/exhibition-presentation/regulations and in the ExhibitorShop under "Information and Approvals" (password required for access).

Interzoo 2014 bookings point to upcoming exhibition success

Four months before the start of the event, Interzoo 2014 has already attracted a significant response from exhibitors, according to organizers: some 1,350 companies have booked their stand at the world's leading exhibition for pet supplies.
Exhibitors and visitors can obtain information about the products, program and services at Interzoo from the updated website www.interzoo.com. "Interzoo 2014 will also be the biggest marketplace for the international pet industry," said Hans-Jochen Büngener, chairman of the Interzoo Exhibition Committee. "About 80% of the exhibitors registered so far are from abroad and about 20% are first-time exhibitors."
Ten halls are already booked up, but a limited number of stand spaces are still available in hall 3 and in the new hall 3A, say organizers. The registrations for larger spaces from companies in Europe are mainly from Spain, France, Belgium, Great Britain and Italy. The exhibition also has more exhibitors to show from overseas, particularly from the USA and Asia. Many countries will again present their products in large pavilions, including Brazil, China, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Canada, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and the USA.

Interzoo launches redesigned trade show website

Pet supplies trade show Interzoo has relaunched its Web presence with the motto of "less is more." The website is focused mainly on a simplified and clear presentation, with content structure based on the needs of the target groups.
Special importance was also attached to optimizing the pages for search engines and breaking down the main contents for exhibitors and visitors into four time phases: exhibitor acquisition, visitor promotion, the exhibition itself and after the exhibition.
"The new Interzoo website suits the world's leading exhibition for the pet supplies industry. We have based the redesign more on the target groups and are hoping for a positive response," says Antje Schreiber, Interzoo communication manager at Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft Zoologischer Fachbetriebe GmbH. "Feedback and suggestions from exhibitors and visitors are expressly requested."

Interzoo organizers report more international visitors for 2014

Organizers of Interzoo 2014 report that the show is becoming more international each year as it grows, with pet product exhibitors booking larger display areas and nearly 100 companies registered for the first time.
Compared to 2012, the number of registered German exhibitors at Interzoo has remained constant while the number of international registrants has grown. As a result, the 2014 show will occupy the new hall 3A and parts of 3 instead of 10. Interzoo is also focusing on added value for the pet market, such as a seminar for German veterinarians and a program for the international pet supplies trade.
In 2012, the show was visited mainly by trading companies from Germany and Europe, as European visitors accounted for 82 percent of all trade visitors. For the past three Interzoo events, the share of trade visitors from the pet supplies trade has grown steadily in absolute figures to above 50 percent in relative terms, organizers say.

Hill's Pet Nutrition will not exhibit at Interzoo 2014

Hill's Pet Nutrition announced it will not exhibit at Interzoo 2014, joining a number of other pet industry companies.
Hill's says the decision was based on increasing internationalization at Interzoo and fewer participants in the European pet product trade, making the investment on exhibiting at the show not worth the return. The company says it intends to invest in resources and budget money in target group communication for customers and consumers instead.

Interzoo 2014 on track to be larger than 2012 pet industry show

The international pet industry will again gather at Interzoo in Nuremberg, Germany, May 29-June 1, 2014. Show organizers say that based on the current level of registrations, Interzoo 2014 is on track to beat registration in 2012.
"The number of registrations is up 21 percent over the comparable period before Interzoo 2012," says Hans-Jochen Büngener, chairman of the Interzoo Exhibition Committee.
"Interzoo has gained new exhibitors, but many of the more than 1,500 companies at the event in 2012 have also registered again and booked larger stand spaces," says Herbert Bollhöfer, managing director of the Interzoo promoter Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft Zoologischer Fachbetriebe GmbH.
Interzoo says its growth is also thanks to positive growth in the worldwide pet market.

Petfood manufacturer Royal Canin not exhibiting at Interzoo 2014

Petfood manufacturer Royal Canin and pet supplies company American Spectrum Brands Group announced the companies will not be exhibiting at the Interzoo fair in Nuremberg, Germany, in 2014. Both companies cited high costs as the reason for their decisions.
"We have invested a large amount of money in Interzoo in recent years. We have asked ourselves whether this investment goes down well with our partners in the pet supplies trade and is therefore justified," said Steven Sagrodnik, responsible for sales and marketing POS at Royal Canin. "In spite of these considerations, we will of course be available at Interzoo for scheduled discussions, but not on the previous scale."
The company said it will use the money instead to target potential partners in the German pet supplies market. Royal Canin is also planning to hold a pet supplies retailers' forum in April for its partners.

Interzoo 2012’s 1,500 exhibitors to cover all pet industry segments

Show organizers of Interzoo 2012 say they expect more than 1,500 pet product manufacturers distributors and retailers from more than 53 countries will present their latest products for all segments of the pet industry at the show, taking place May 17-20, in Nuremberg, Germany.
Out of all exhibitors, 46 percent are expected to exhibit products for the dog and cat segments of the pet industry, while 20 percent of exhibitors are expected to represent the aquaria segment and another 20 percent will represent the small animal and rodent segment. "There is a demand for food supplements in the form of functional food with ingredients and raw materials suitable for curing or reducing the everyday problems of pets. The new products in the food supplements segment will certainly also include healthy snacks as rewards and as treats for between times,” said Hans-Jochen Büngener, chairman of the exhibition committee. “In addition, I expect to see new special food that takes into account the individual needs of pets and certain sensitivities."
Also at the 2012 show, 11 percent are expected to exhibit products for the terraria segment, 3 percent will exhibit shop fittings and packing, 3 percent will exhibit new petfood technology, 2 percent will exhibit trade literature or represent the media, and 2 percent will exhibit miscellaneous pet industry products.

Applications for larger exhibition stands and new exhibitors have come from Europe, particularly from pet product manufacturers in the Netherlands, France, Poland and the Czech Republic. “It is already apparent that Interzoo 2012 will once again be the world’s biggest show for the pet industry and the meeting place for all players in the industry. Well over two-thirds of the companies registered until now come from abroad. We are also pleased about the appreciable growth in the space occupied and number of exhibitors from Germany,” said Norbert Holthenrich, president of the exhibition’s honorary sponsor, the German Pet Trade and Industry Association.
